The EMGS students visited Lokeren, Belgium, from December 4th to 8th for five days of intense work and social activities. During the first two days, the students could present the EMGS European universities and get together. The main discussions were organized around Key Concepts in Global Studies research. These discussions were organized in 5 Workshops:
1) Regionalism in the Eurasian Area: Analyzing Intergovernmental Structures
2) Maritime History as Global History: Connectivity, the global and the local
3) International Order: War, Conquest and the re-emergence of multipolarity
4) Populism in Global Perspective
5) Migrants – A Global Category of Problematization and Intervention
Finally, students had a keynote lecture with Stephan Vanfraechem and enjoyed an interesting excursion to the Red Star Line Museum in Antwerp.
