Global Perspectives on War and Peace: GESI Students visit the Museum for Military History in Dresden

Known for its striking architecture and critical, thought-provoking approach to military history, the Museum of Military History in Dresden was an ideal setting for academic reflection and tangible experience of the shaping of topical debates.

We enjoyed an excellent guided tour focusing on the 20th century history of war and peace, complemented by insights into the 19th century. Against the backdrop of ongoing discussions on a new global arms race, the prospect of a „new Cold War“, and increasingly complex geopolitical dynamics, the visit provided valuable insights into the evolving nature of warfare.

The museum provided a unique perspective on violence, memory and military history. With a focus on cultural and societal dimensions we gained fascinating insights into how historical conflicts shape today’s global realities.
