As I complete my first semester in the Global Studies Department at Leipzig University, I am truly excited to reflect on this experience. My time at Leipzig University has been unforgettable, not only in terms of academics but also for my personal growth. The university’s multicultural environment gave me the opportunity to meet students from different countries and gain various perspectives. The richness of being surrounded by different cultures was reflected in both our classes and daily life. This diversity allowed me to see the world from a broader perspective and helped me develop a global outlook.
This semester has been truly intense and fulfilling! The presentations we gave in class kept our interest in the subjects alive and increased our participation. Some presentations were so engaging that we sometimes lost track of time. Listening to the perspectives of friends from
different countries was an incredible experience, especially when we focused on a specific region, and a classmate from that area could share their firsthand insights. This made our discussions even more meaningful. Methodology courses provided us with a great opportunity
to improve our academic writing skills. We learned the intricacies of academic writing in detail, and I hope we were able to successfully apply them in our final assignments! Honestly, these courses played a crucial role in helping us take stronger steps in the field of social sciences.
The required readings and additional resources carefully selected by our professors were truly invaluable. Having them as a guide in our field helped us grasp complex topics much faster. While the readings sometimes seemed overwhelming, looking back, I can see how beneficial
they were, making all the effort worthwhile.
Encountering various types of assignments throughout the semester was another unique
experience. Each assignment format contributed to our growth in different ways. For instance, the text profiles we prepared weekly turned out to be essential in determining which sources to use for the home exam at the end of the semester. Additionally, realizing that a book review I prepared for one class was also useful for another demonstrated how well-structured and thoughtfully designed the Global Studies curriculum is. The program nurtures and supports students in every possible way.
Now, it’s time for a well-deserved break, but I am already looking forward to the next semester with excitement. I can’t wait to see what new experiences await us!
