Terms & Holidays

At all of the six European participating universities, the academic year is divided into two terms. The academic year always starts in fall/winter, and it is only possible to begin the EMGS programme at that time. The dates of the terms and holidays vary a bit from university to university and also slightly from year to year.

 

Ghent University

Winter term: end of September until mid-February

Lecture period: September until end of December

Summer term: mid-February until end of September

Lecture period: mid-October until beginning of February

Summer term: 1 April to 30 September

Lecture Period: beginning of April until second half of July

Michaelmas term: end of September until mid-December

Lent term: mid-January until end of March

Summer term: end of April until mid-June

School reading weeks (if offered): beginning of November until mid-February

Please take into consideration that at the beginning of each winter term introductory courses may take place (approximately two weeks before the official start of the term). Furthermore, at the end of the first year all students have to attend the summer school in the first week of July.
